Australian Voices

The Australian Voices ensemble has a distinctive, fresh sound with a high artistic energy. The ensemble has been awarded some of the highest honours in choral music, including gold medals at the World Choir Games and first prizes at the Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod. Gordon Hamilton has been Artistic Director since 2009 and is considered one of Australia’s most exciting young conductors and composers. They tour internationally every year.

The Australian Voices is comprised of singers aged 17 to 35 from all over Australia and is acclaimed for its distinctively fresh choral sound and high artistic energy.  Their choral-theatre work, MOON, received 5-stars at the 2012 Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Toy Story 3 = Awesome! and 9 Cutest Things That Ever Happened are youtube hits. Other works like We Apologise and Tra$h Ma$h have forged new directions in choral music.

The Program features an eclectic selection of Australian and European choral works by Gordon Hamilton, Robert Davidson, Ruth McCall and James Morrison interspersed with classics from Bach, Palestrina and Hildegarde von Bingen.The Australian Voices have a 19-year history of creating exciting new Australian works and they take the audience on a journey of wonder and education.
