The Art of Choral Harmony

Sacred and profane, ancient and modern, imported and homegrown: join Sydney Chamber Choir on a musical journey into the heart of beauty. The human voice is the most expressive of all instruments, and this concert features some of the great masters of choral writing: Hildegard of Bingen’s ecstatic melodies, written for the nuns of her 12th-century abbey; exquisitely passionate madrigals by Monteverdi and Gesualdo; the lush harmonies of Brahms and the delicacy of Debussy; and three thrilling Australian choruses for a mighty finale.

Hildegard von Bingen – Ave Generosa
Josquin dez Pres – Ave Maria
Gesualdo – Belta, poi che l’assenti
Io parto e non piu dissi
Claudio Monteverdi – Lamento d’Arianna
Palestrina – Alla riva del Tebro
Marenzio – Qual mormorio soave
Johannes Brahms – Five Songs, op. 104
Claude Debussy – Trois chansons
Paul Stanhope – Deserts of Exile
Ross Edwards – Missa Alchera Kyrie (Mass of the Dreaming)
